Sentators Single: 1952 Bowman Archie Wilson

1952 BOWMAN Archie Wilson 210

I recently got this beaut from a Sportlots auction. I had to pay up a bit more than the opening 25¢ bid at $1.75 plus a steep $4.85 shipping. But it is nice.

Expos Extra: Stadium Club Ultra and Gold

EXPOS EXTRA: Stadium Club Ultra and Some Gold

Alrighty then lets get this show on the road. This month I am cheating a little by making an Expos post. Hey my blog my rules. Actually one of the cards I'm showing is of one of the transition Expos to Nationals players but I'm only showing his Expos card. You have to read the post and/or view the images to find out who. HA.

I started the idea for this post with the thought of showing a couple of base cards with their gold variant and then decided to toss in a few cards that were in the same trade package that the variants were in. All 8 of these Expos cards are from 1999 Fleer Ultra and 2002 Topps Stadium Club 4 cards from each set.

First I'll show a trio of bonus cards just the fronts:

A Montreal Trio Vlad plus 1

We have:

1999 Fleer Ultra Baseball:

174 Dustin Hermanson

20 Vladimir Guerrero

2002 Topps Stadium Club Baseball:

27 Vladimir Guerrero

Next I'll show the meat and potatoes of this post the gold variants with their base counterparts.

Orlando Cabrera: 2002 Topps Stadium Club Baseball 40

Base and Gold Variant

2002 Topps Stadium Club Baseball: 40 Orlando Cabrera Base

2002 Topps Stadium Club Baseball: 40 Orlando Cabrera Gold

This card is a THICK one.

Not as thick as some relic cards but at least double thickness compared to the base

RONDELL WHITE: 1999 Fleer Ultra Baseball 117 & 117G

Base and Gold Medallion Variant

1999 Fleer Ultra Baseball: 117 Rondell White Base

1999 Fleer Ultra Baseball: 117G Rondell White Gold Medallion

Now the transition Expos to Nationals Player Jose Vidro

2002 Topps Stadium Club Baseball: 39 Jose Vidro

2002 Topps Stadium Club Baseball: 39 Jose Vidro

I hope you enjoyed these blasts from the past from the Great White North.

Harrisburg Senators 2012 Season Pocket Schedule

I wasn't sure if I had already blogged about this or not. I thought I had but apparently I have not. I also thought I was confusing it with another Pocket Schedule I have somewhere for I think for the Syracuse Chiefs (now the Mets) that has Bryce Harper on the cover. That one I think I have two copies of. This one for the 2012 Harrisburg Senators I thought had Bryce Harper on it. But the player on this one is wearing number 3 which during 2012 was Eury Perez at one time, however the player is not Eury it is Chris McConnell who wore number 3 for the Senators in the previous season 2011.

Actually that very well could be Bryce Harper (with his "4" hidden) he is batting lefty. One copy of this currently on Ebay is advertising it as Bryce. OK yeah it's Bryce Harper. So I might only have one of these schedules.

Anyway here is the 2012 pocket schedule for The Harrisburg Senators.

NOTE: I started the draft for this post about 9:10 PM on Sunday 28 February and worked on the scans around 11:30 PM to about 12:10 AM Monday 01 March.

Victor Robles 2020 Stadium Club Times Two

OK this is a very quick, probably the quickest posting I've ever done. To make my self appointed posting/publishing deadline I had to publish this post before any final edits or anything that resembled a draft for the post. OK it is cheating a little but I don't care right now.

and base card 133 Victor Robles Washington Nationals - size comparison front of card

Any way I got these two cards from a monthly Baseball group box break that I belong to that I have the Nationals for. The host is mostly a football guy so he isn't familiar with all the baseball stars. It has actually been a few months since I've had the time to watch the group box break videos. Anyway. These Victor Robles cards are from a break back in November of last year 2020. I had my regular Nationals and based on some other cards in my package I think for that month I also had the Orioles as a random team and the Miami Marlins were the last or next to last unclaimed team that got randomized. One of the products opened for the month of November 2020 was 2020 Topps Stadium Club Baseball. So I got a few of my Curly W Boys and the bonus of getting the Oversized Boxloader (BoxTopper).

2020 Topps Stadium Club Baseball Oversized Boxloader Pack

Guess who it was? Yep so the two cards are the base card of Victor Robles number 133 and the Box Topper which is a larger version of the base card.

We Howie Knew You

So here is the final post for this year of 2020. The title is sort of a play on words, no not of Happy New Year, but more We Hardly Knew You or How We Knew You. Early last week on 21 December 2020 Leftfielder, 2nd and 1st baseman Howie Kendrick announced his retirement after a 15 season career. The big highlights of his career of course is the 2019 NLDS game 5 winning 10th inning grand slam vs The Los Angeles Dodgers. Plus his MVP for the NLCS vs the St. Louis Cardinals.

Since I don't spend lots of times with details here are some scans of a few Howie Kendrick cards as a little tribute to his career.

2020 Topps Baseball: Series Two 655 Howie Kendrick Washington Nationals

2020 Topps Allen & Ginter: 233 Howie Kendrick Washington Nationals

Carter Kieboom First Career Hit Is A HOME RUN in MLB Debut 2019 Topps Now

This post is about a single card (yeah big deal there have been lots of those around this blog) from 2019 Topps Now:

Carter Kieboom (Kid brother of Spencer Kieboom) made his MLB Debut on 26 April 2019 at home vs The San Diego Padres in the first of a three game series. His first MLB hit was a Home Run on his 3rd at bat bottom of the 8th Inning. He tied the score 3-3 unfortunately the Padres scored a run at the top of the 9th and won 4-3  The Nats lost the series 2-1.

2018 Home Run Derby Bryce Harper Winner

Ah Back in 2018 The All-Star Game was hosted by The Nationals at Nationals Park. This post is not about the game but rather one of the pre-game events. The Home Run Derby held the night before the game. The league's best (well supposedly best) sluggers compete to see who can hit the most homers before getting 5 outs in each "inning" of the competition. OK lets skip the details and just get to the card for this post:

It is from 2018 Topps Now Baseball: 467 Bryce Harper Washington Nationals Champion at home Ballpark.

2018 Topps Now Baseball: 467 Bryce Harper Washington Nationals

2018 T-Mobile Home Run Derby Champion at Home Ballpark

2020 Topps Now: Juan Soto Ties Some Guy Named Mantle

2020 Topps Now Baseball: 76 Juan Soto

Young Slugger Ties Mickey Mantle for Home Run Mark

So I got this card via Ebay, which is my main source for Topps Now cards it seems. Lets see it was $5.50 Free Shipping but plus some tax so a grand total of $5.83

Senators Singles: 1959 Topps Hal Griggs

1959 Topps Hal Griggs

OK so here is a single card post. I got this card from a Sportlots auction for the 25 cents opening bid. I won 3 other auctions and mentioned the hole lot over at my regular card blog. So here we go 1959 Washington Senator Right Handed Pitcher Hal Griggs.

Joy Of A Complete Team Set: Well A Complete Rookie Prospect Team Set

Joy Of A Complete Team Set:

2007 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects Gold Parallel Washington Nationals Team Set

I got this set from Ebay a month or so back for just a little over 9 bucks (five cents technically) shipping included in the total. I was so excited because it was a “full team set”. Well this set is the 2007 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects Full Washington Nationals Team set. I forgot that Bowman separates the sets into 3 or 4 min-sets. I was a little disappointed because it was just Rookies and Prospects no Vets 8 cards total, I was thinking it was the regular Bowman set. Well the regular Bowman set for 2007 only has 3 players/cards. I have the regular versions of them (I think) but this is the Gold Parallel Rookies Set that I got. I don’t think I have any gold parallels of the veteran players (Ryan Zimmerman, Austin Kearns and Nick Johnson), I may have all of them in the regular issue but not the Gold parallel. OH well. Anyway here are the Rookies and Prospects:

2007 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects Gold Parallel Team Set

(8 cards)

BDP9 Jesus Flores

BDP38 Kory Casto

BDPP23 Derek Norris

BDPP35 Steven Souza

BDPP63 Jake Smolinski

BDPP67 Collin Balester

BDPP70 Emiliano Fruto

BDPP91 Brian Bocock

So yeah there are the youngins from the 2007 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects Gold Parallel Washington Nationals Team Set. Now I need to locate the regular Gold Parallels of the veterans; Zimmerman, Kearns & Johnson for the true complete TEAM Set.

*Due to the new formatting of Blogger scans in future posts might be delayed since I have to use a completely new process to get the images from my ancient laptop to my work laptop to be able to add images or to find another way to get the images up on the web to access from work 'putter.
